Our Story

We turned a waste stream into a supply chain.

IBC Tote Solutions exists for one reason: the tote that's already been made shouldn't be made twice. Here's how a Berea, Ohio idea became a nationwide circular loop.

Quick answer: IBC Tote Solutions is a Berea, Ohio company that buys, sells, reconditions, transports, and repurposes used IBC totes across the USA — built around reuse-first, zero-to-landfill principles.

The road here

From scrap-yard hunch to national loop.

The spark

A dock full of 'waste'

Our founder kept watching perfectly good IBC totes get tossed because nobody had time to move them. That waste — of material and money — became the whole idea.

Year one

One truck, one wash line

We started small in Berea, Ohio: recovering totes, washing them by hand, and reselling them to local manufacturers who couldn't believe the price.

Scaling

Reconditioning at volume

Triple-rinse lines, cage repair, and rebottling let us guarantee grade — turning a scrappy side hustle into a dependable supply.

Today

A 48-state loop

We now recover, recondition, transport, repurpose, and recycle totes across the country, with a standing goal of sending nothing to the landfill.

Our mission

Keep every tote in service, and off the landfill floor.

An IBC tote is roughly 116 lb of engineered plastic and steel built to last a decade or more. Treating it as single-use is an environmental and economic mistake. Our mission is simple: recover those units, restore them to spec, and put them back to work — again and again — so that the embodied energy in each one is repaid many times over before any material is ever reprocessed.

We are a family-run operation in Berea, Ohio, and we would rather earn a fair margin moving totes through their fullest possible life than chase the fast dollar of scrap. That belief shapes every decision here, from how we grade a bottle to why we do not run a call center.

A tote is not packaging you throw away. It is infrastructure you circulate.

What we stand for

Six values that decide the hard calls.

Anyone can print a values list. These are the ones we actually lose sales over.

01

Reuse before revenue

The greenest tote is the one already made. We keep units whole and working for as long as physically possible, even when reselling parts would earn more.

02

Honest grading

A Grade A tote is a Grade A tote. We would rather lose a sale than let a mislabeled unit leave the yard and damage a customer's fill.

03

Email over pressure

No call-center scripts, no phone tag. We work by email so quotes are written down, contents history is documented, and nobody feels chased.

04

Local hands, national reach

Every tote passes through real people in Berea, Ohio. Scale never means a tote skips inspection.

05

Zero-to-landfill discipline

Recycling is a safety net, not a shortcut. If a tote can be reused or repurposed, burying it is not on the table.

06

Documentation you can file

Diversion figures, prior-contents records, and grade sheets are built to drop straight into audits and ESG reports.

How the loop works

One tote, six stages, no dead end.

Most packaging follows a straight line: make it, use it, bury it. We bend that line into a circle. Here is the full journey a tote takes through our hands.

01

Recover

We buy empties from fillers, distributors, and manufacturers — paying for units that would otherwise become a disposal cost. One phone-free email starts the pickup.

02

Inspect & grade

Each tote is emptied, checked for prior contents, pressure-checked, and graded. Cage welds, pallet feet, valves, and gaskets are all examined before anything moves forward.

03

Recondition

Interior triple-rinse or hot-wash, cage straightening and weld repair, fresh valves and lids, and rebottling when an application needs a virgin HDPE interior.

04

Resupply

Graded, documented totes go back to fillers at 40–65% below new. Reconditioned for general duty; rebottled for sensitive fills.

05

Repurpose

Units retired from liquid duty become rain barrels, planters, dock floats, and storage — a full second decade of life before any material is reprocessed.

06

Recycle

Only at true end-of-life: HDPE is ground and re-pelletized, steel cages go to metal recovery, and the loop closes with nothing buried.

Quality standards

What “reconditioned” actually means here.

The word gets thrown around loosely in this industry. For us it is a checklist every tote must clear before it earns a grade sheet and a shipping label.

CheckpointWhat we verify
Prior-contents checkDocumented history of last fill; food-grade and non-hazard verification before wash.
Interior washTriple-rinse for general duty; hot-wash / caustic wash on request for stubborn residue.
Bottle integrityVisual and pressure inspection for stress cracks, panel bulge, and UV degradation.
Cage & palletWeld repair, bar straightening, foot replacement; stack-rating restored to spec.
FittingsNew or verified valves, gaskets, camlocks, and lids sized to your discharge needs.
Grade sheetEvery unit shipped with an A/B grade designation and any noted cosmetic wear.

Operations in Ohio

Real people, real yard, real inspection.

Everything runs out of Berea, Ohio — a location that puts us within a day's freight of a huge share of American manufacturing across the Midwest, the Great Lakes, and the Northeast corridor.

Our team recovers empties, runs the wash lines, repairs cages, and grades every unit by hand. Being hands-on is the whole point: it is how we can stand behind a grade, document a tote's history, and make sure the reuse-first promise is more than a slogan. When you email us, you are reaching the people who actually touched your totes — not a distant sales desk.

What we believe

Reuse beats recycle. Recycle beats landfill. Landfill is failure.

Recycling is the safety net, not the goal. Melting a tote down still burns energy. Keeping it whole and working is dramatically greener — so reuse comes first, repurposing second, recycling only at genuine end-of-life.

We measure success in totes kept whole — not totes sold.

Common questions

The things people email us first.

Where are you located and how far do you ship?

We are based at 931 W Bagley Rd, Berea, OH 44017, and we recover, recondition, and ship totes across the continental United States — a 48-state loop. Freight is quoted by lane and volume; consolidated truckloads keep per-tote cost and per-tote carbon low.

Do you have a phone number?

No — and that is intentional. We work by email at info@ibctotessolutions.com so every quote, grade sheet, and contents record is written down and easy to file. It keeps things faster, calmer, and fully documented.

Are you a broker or do you actually handle the totes?

We handle them. Every tote passes through real hands in Berea for inspection, grading, and reconditioning. We are not a listing site that never touches the product.

What sizes and construction do you work with?

Primarily 275- and 330-gallon caged IBC totes: an HDPE bottle inside a galvanized steel cage on a pallet. We buy, sell, recondition, transport, repurpose, and recycle these units.

Can I sell you my empty totes?

Yes. Recovering empties is the front door of our loop. Email us your location, quantity, sizes, and prior contents and we will send a written offer and arrange pickup where volume allows.

What is the difference between reconditioned and rebottled?

Reconditioned totes are cleaned, inspected, and repaired for reuse of the original bottle. Rebottled totes pair a brand-new HDPE bottle with a reconditioned steel cage — new-interior purity for sensitive fills, with a circular frame.

Do you provide sustainability documentation?

Yes. We supply diversion figures and reuse records built to drop into ESG and scope-3 reporting. Real, tote-level numbers rather than vague green claims.

How do I get a quote?

Send an email describing whether you are buying, selling, or need transport, along with quantities, sizes, grade, and your ZIP. We reply with written pricing and lead time — usually same or next business day.
